Mellau-Damüls, Austria, February 2013

 Where? Never heard of it?

park sessionLoads of Snow, really
Damüls is “the snowiest village in the world” - over 9m a year! Now connected with Mellau, it is an up-and-coming resort in the Vorarlberg. Not huge, but good. 29 lifts, 109 km. For the adventurous (local bus), the ski pass covers another thirty-ish resorts in the area including the also famously snowy Schrocken-Warth.

There's a Burton Snowpark, north-facing slopes where the powder stays fresh, and even a lift near the hotel with night-skiing on Friday. We take a short bus ride to Mellau in the mornings: you can also ski straight from Hotel Engel in Alberschwendle if you want a very quiet day.

Three nights hotel with half board – sauna and wellness included - and three days ski pass. Staggeringly good value. Children's rates available on request.
